We need YOUR knowledge and experiences to make the 10th annual JP Passport Festival on the evening of Tuesday, February 21 a success! passport nightVolunteer to present a table on a country you’ve visited, you or your ancestors came from, or one you simply have an interest in and want to share with JP students and their families. Displays can include photos, costumes, artwork, music, food, maps, games, activities, and just about anything that tells about that country.

During the Passport Festival, students and their families will “visit” each county, sample some food, do an activity, get their passports stamped and learn about the great wide world we live in!

PTO's have had term limits much longer than congress. Eager Kindergarten parents move in a few years to the middle school. The familiar faces at concerts, book sales and math night fade away. There is always a need and desire for fresh faces.

Yes, there is a lot going on. For many familes, two parents mean two jobs. Sports teams, music, Sunday school, church, art class, judo and a whole page of other things fill our children's schedule. Somewhere in the middle of all of this is homework and sleep. It is a lot.

But, being involved in your children's school has so many benefits. You being here helps their grades. It helps improve their behavior. It helps you.

Jackson Park has been lucky to have a very long history of a very active PTO. Join us today.

It is that time of year again. Snow and school closings.

The School District of University City uses several methods to notify parents and staff of inclement weather closings, including SchoolReach calls to student and staff homes, television news stations (Channels 2, 4 and 5), radio (KMOX) and postings to the District website (www.ucityschools.org) and Facebook page. In most cases, the decision to close schools is made by 5 AM and notifications are broadcast beginning at 5:30 AM to ensure all staff and students receive adequate notice of cancellations.
